CAREER SERVICES
MR. ROBERT HVEZDA, DIRECTOR – 824-2426
The Office of Career Services, Cooperative Education/Internship Programs provides a variety of career-related services for students of all class levels.
Skills, interests, work values and majors of the first-year student can be explored through a career exploration software program, FOCUS. This state-of-the-art, computer-based guidance system allows students to work at their own pace and then discuss immediate results with professional staff members. An annual career and job fair provides students with the opportunity of meeting more than 200 company representatives providing them with experience in the career selection process.
After completion of the first year, students will be able to take advantage of services to enhance and promote their education. These include cooperative education/internship placement, résumé construction, interviewing techniques, a reference credential file, on-campus recruiting, job search strategies, graduate/professional school preparation, as well as individual career counseling with staff members.
Each year, the Office of Career Services places more than 350 students in cooperative education/internship experiences and hosts 60 organizations for on-campus interviewing. More than 90 percent of Mercyhurst graduates are employed and/or attending post-graduate programs on an annual basis.
In addition, the Office of Career Services posts part-time/full-time jobs, promotes regional job fairs and develops lasting contacts with Mercyhurst graduates through Alumni Networking. Engaging students in every possible way to become more marketable, competitive, and employable is the success formula created by Career Services to ensure student satisfaction.
